[Worth Listening to] SAL – A Viagem Vai a Meio

Com o fim de um dos melhores projetos da música portuguesa: os Diabo na Cruz, foi em plena pandemia que, cinco músicos, decidiram que a música não podia esperar. Mesmo num tempo em que tudo gritava para ficarmos quietos, eles queriam palco, stage-diving, abraços e acabaram por enfiar-se numa garagem para escrever canções à sombra da urgência.

Nasceu o som de SAL, com “Passo Forte” como chamamento e temas como “Não Vale Chorar”, “Morrer” ou “Fim do Mundo” a traduzirem não apenas um mundo em mudança, mas sobretudo um grupo em transformação.

A génese e o som da banda está intimamente ligada aos Diabo na Cruz. Três dos elementos de SAL: Sérgio Pires (voz e viola braguesa), João Pinheiro (bateria) e João Gil (baixo) após o anúncio do fim dos Diabo na Cruz em 2019, decidiram continuar juntos com um novo nome e nova energia. A essa base somaram-se Daniel Mestre na guitarra e Vicente Santos nos teclados, completando o alinhamento que daria vida a SAL.

O novo álbum, intitulado “A Viagem Vai a Meio”, surge em 2025 com o orgulho de quem já percorreu estrada suficiente para perceber que a vida não está nem a começar nem a terminar: está a meio. O convite que fazem ao ouvinte é duplo: de um lado abrir o coração, do outro recusar as fórmulas fáceis. Em tempos dominados por algoritmos, por músicas pensadas para entrar nos “tops”, por vozes e sons cada vez mais geridos por inteligência artificial, SAL escolhem o caminho do humano, do imperfeito, da estrada e da palavra que ainda hesita.

Musicalmente, SAL mantêm uma matriz rock, contagiante e viva, mas com raízes que se estendem às sonoridades populares portuguesas. A presença da viola braguesa, dos bombos ou de percussões tradicionais confere uma textura que faz da identidade da banda algo vincado.

Um álbum que merece audição “à antiga”, do princípio ao fim, como se de um concerto se tratasse. E claro, tal como os Diabo na Cruz conseguiam, a especial chama dos SAL está nas suas apresentações ao vivo.
